Thoughts??
SO I need some feedback on my DSS project! I am about to start a new science unit on the states of matter (whenever we go back to school) and my plan was to take to pictures of the students in the science lab experimenting and to have them narrate their learning. I am not sure if I will have enough time to do this so I was thinking maybe I should do my DSS as a way to introduce the unit. Sharing pictures of everyday objects and introduce the vocab for the unit. Thoughts??

I'm going to be doing something similiar for my project. We are starting a unit on Arctic animals, so my project is going to be a preview of what we will be learning in the unit. I think it will be a good way to get the kids excited for what is to come. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI think that's a great idea! As we know, activating prior knowledge and exposing kids to content specific vocab is super important!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the idea of using it as an introduction. I so often feel that content areas lack the needed resources (books) in order to teach them effectively. And there is no better way than showing students so that they have the opportunity to create a knowledge base. However, if you do have them narrate their learning after the fact, it will provide you a very clear assessment of student learning! You really can't go wrong...now only if we had four more weeks of this course to actually accomplish what is on the syllabus!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly! I like the idea of using it both way. It would be a great intro and assessment piece. But time is a huge issue since we have not been in school for 3 days...ugh!!
DeleteI am in the same situation as you. We have missed so much time because of the weather that I am feeling a lot of pressure to put something together without the kids. I started something last week that I am just HOPING I will actually get to finish! Great idea!
